Privacy Policy

Who we are

Ignite is published by Thomas Fauvel, an independent developer acting as a natural person and not as a company, and the controller of the personal data described in this policy.

Postal address: 2 rue du domaine des dunes 33260 La Teste de Buch.
Contact: ignite.welcome.app@gmail.com.

What we collect

Account. Your email address, if you sign up with one: guest accounts are created without an email address. A display name you choose, which your partner sees. A partner code we generate for you, and the code of the partner you link with. Internal identifiers for your account.

Your availability. Your current status ("Open" / "Not now") and, when it is set to expire, the time it expires. Your recurring availability schedule: the time blocks you define for an ordinary week, with their times and durations. Whether your account is paused, and when the pause started or ended. This describes your sex life, and we treat it as a special category of personal data under GDPR Article 9.

Settings. Your app language, your icon set, and whether you want to be notified when your partner reconnects. Your device time zone, described under "Location" below. Your pause settings (strategy, duration, and the hours of the pause window) are shared between the two members of a couple, because they govern both accounts.

Activity. Timestamps: when your account was created and last updated, when you were last active, when you last changed your status or your schedule, when you last tried to pair, when your couple trial started and when we last notified you about it. We use them to run automatic pause, to run the free couple trial, and to limit how often an account can write to our database.

Subscription. If you subscribe, we keep your subscription state: whether it is active, the product, the store, the period, the expiry date and any grace period. If you redeem a promotional code, we keep a record of that redemption. We never see or store your payment details, which are handled entirely by Google Play or the App Store.

Device. If you turn on notifications, we store a push token identifying your device, and the platform it runs on.

What we do NOT store

We do not keep a history of your past statuses: your current status is overwritten each time it changes, and no previous value is kept. We do keep the time of your most recent change, and the recurring schedule described above.

Ignite has no messaging, no photos and no file uploads, so we collect nothing you write or send. We use no analytics, no crash reporting and no advertising SDK, and we do not collect an advertising identifier.

Location

We do not collect GPS or device location, and the app asks for no location permission.

We do store your device time zone, for example "Europe/Paris". The app reads it from your system settings and updates it whenever it changes, which includes after a trip or a move. We use it to apply your availability schedule at the right local time.

Who can see your data

Your data is visible to the partner you are mutually linked with, and to no other user. Linking requires both people to enter each other's code.

Your partner's app receives your display name, your current status, whether you are paused, your icon set and, when your status is set to expire, the time it expires. It also receives internal identifiers and three fields the app no longer uses, which are always empty. Your recurring schedule is never sent to your partner. Neither is the time you were last active, although automatic pause is driven by inactivity, so a paused status can suggest you have not opened the app for a while.

Either person can disconnect at any time. On our servers the cut is immediate: once the link is broken, neither account can read the other's data. On the device it is not. Your former partner's app may keep what it last read about you (display name, status, pause state, expiry time) in its local cache for up to 24 hours, until that cache expires.

Notifications

Push notifications are delivered through Google Firebase Cloud Messaging. Google receives your device push token, and the title and body of every message we send. Those messages can contain your partner's display name, for example when they reconnect or when your couple trial ends. No push notification we send contains your status.

Ignite also schedules reminders that stay on your device and reach no server. If you turn on status reminders, one of them is titled "Still in Open mood on Ignite" and therefore names your current status on your lock screen; two others say that your account is paused. You can turn these reminders off in Notifications.

Guest accounts

A guest account is a real account on our servers. The same rows are created, and they fill with the same data: status, schedule, pause state, partner link. What exists only on your phone is the session that opens it. No email address and no password are attached to it, so if you sign out, lose the device or switch to another one, you lose access to that account for good, while its data stays on our servers. Converting a guest account into a permanent one keeps the account and its history.

Legal basis

We rely on three legal bases, depending on the data. Each one maps to the categories listed under "What we collect".

Your explicit consent (GDPR Articles 6(1)(a) and 9(2)(a)) for everything under "Your availability": your current status and its expiry time, your recurring availability schedule, and your pause state. This is special category data, so we ask for your explicit consent when you create your account, and we process none of it without that consent. You can withdraw your consent at any time by deleting your account, which is currently the only way to withdraw it.

Performance of our contract with you (Article 6(1)(b)) for what is needed to provide the service: your account and the email address that opens it, your display name, your partner code and the link to your partner; your settings, including your device time zone and the pause settings shared with your partner; the timestamps that drive automatic pause and the free couple trial; your subscription state and any promotional code you redeem; and your push token, stored only if you turn notifications on, to deliver the notifications you asked for.

Our legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f)) in keeping the service usable and free of abuse: the three timestamps that limit how often an account can change its status, change its schedule or attempt to pair, together with the traffic Cloudflare Pages needs to serve our website. You can object to processing based on this legal basis, as described under "Your rights".

Processors

Supabase provides our database, authentication and API. The data listed above is stored on Supabase infrastructure located in the European Union (eu-west-3, Paris).

Cloudflare hosts the Ignite website, including this page, the account-deletion page and the password-reset page: when you visit them, Cloudflare receives your IP address and the technical details of each request. The Android and iOS apps serve their files locally.

RevenueCat handles Premium subscriptions. It receives a pseudonymous user identifier and your subscription state, never your intimacy status, email or payment details.

Google Firebase Cloud Messaging delivers push notifications, and receives what is described under "Notifications" above.

International transfers

Some of our processors may process data outside the European Union. Those transfers take place under the safeguards set out in our data processing agreements with them, which include standard contractual clauses. If you want to know which safeguard applies to a given processor, or to obtain a copy of it, write to ignite.welcome.app@gmail.com.

Your rights

You have the right to access your data, to have it corrected, to have it erased, to restrict how we process it, to object to processing based on our legitimate interest, to receive your data in a portable form, and to withdraw your consent at any time.

Account deletion (Profile → Delete my account, or the dedicated page) erases your account and the data listed above from our database, and is currently the only way to withdraw your consent. There is no export button yet: for a portable copy of your data, or for any other right listed above, write to ignite.welcome.app@gmail.com and we will act on it.

Two limits we would rather state than hide. Deletion does not reach our processors: RevenueCat keeps its own subscriber record under your former identifier, and if you signed in with Apple, the authorization you granted remains in your Apple ID settings until you revoke it there. And signing out does not clear everything Ignite has written on your device: an email address you entered while converting a guest account, your custom time slots and cached partner data stay in local storage until you delete the app or clear its data.

The dedicated page only works for accounts that have an email address and a password. Guest accounts, and accounts created with Google or Apple, have to be deleted from the app, or by writing to us. For any request, contact ignite.welcome.app@gmail.com.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the data protection authority of the country you live in. In France, that authority is the CNIL (Commission Nationale de l'Informatique et des Libertés, www.cnil.fr).

Retention

Data is kept until you delete your account, after which it is removed from our database.

Guest accounts — the ones created with “try without an account”, which have no email and no password — are deleted automatically after 90 days without any activity, together with everything attached to them. A guest account that is still linked to a partner who keeps using Ignite is kept for as long as that partner stays active, because their side of the app still needs it; the 90-day clock starts over once the link ends.

A guest account cannot be reopened once you sign out of it, since there are no credentials to sign back in with. If you need one deleted before those 90 days are up, write to ignite.welcome.app@gmail.com.
